ABOUT US

Welcome to Graffham’s Empire Hall!

At the centre of village life since 1907 it is the venue for many community activities. A characterful, spacious and attractive building constructed in 1907, sensitively renovated and updated within the last five years lending itself to suit many an event.

Not only is it the venue for the various village groups, which include the badminton club, the Garden Group, and the Thursday Club, but for stage performances - live music gigs and plays so popular they draw people in from way beyond Graffham’s borders. A 1940s tea party, with dancing to The Three Belles, brought nostalgia to our Edwardian Hall, known to some as the ‘Old Lady’ of Graffham, and that led to a real-life 1940s wedding with the bride and groom being carried down on a horse-drawn carriage from the church at the bottom of the downs – St. Giles Church.

This is also where so many busy and varied activities take place: weekly exercise classes such as Yoga and Pilates, and badminton, and a monthly Lunch Club run by the Health Association. An osteopath and a physiotherapist conduct their clinics in The Treatment Room as does a Podiatrist.

And it doesn’t stop there…there’s the annual Easter Market, St. Giles Christmas Fair, Flower Show, Harvest Lunch, Burns Night celebrations, as well as the place where the Parish Council holds its meetings, the once-a-week outreach Post Office and the Polling Station for national and local elections.

The Empire Hall is open to all – available for private hire for day and evening functions throughout the year. It provides an excellent venue for receptions, adult and children’s parties, seating up to 120 people. All are made welcome here!
