Hiring the Empire Hall

Whilst hall hirers are responsible for arranging their own entertainments and catering, the Hall Committee are always available to make suggestions and help where we can. The Main Hall comprises a large spacious hall with church-like beamed ceiling, a stage at the rear and a balcony seating 20 people. 120 people can be seated comfortably without using the stage. The polished-wooden floorboards come complete with badminton lines. The period feature windows let in broad sunlight with roller blinds available.

The Kennedy Room, adjacent to the entrance lobby, is normally included when the Hall is hired. It has a large hatch through to the Hall and is used as a bar for drinks and light refreshments. The Kennedy Room is not available for separate hire.


The Committee Room is also adjacent to the entrance lobby and may be hired separately for small meetings. It is a small conference room that can fit up to 16 people. Flip chart available. It is not available when a major event is taking place in the Main Hall.

The entrance lobby also has stairs which lead up to The Balcony

Facilities A wheelchair-friendly ramp is accessible to the front door of the hall.


The Rear Entrance & Lobby is newly installed and provides an alternative entrance to the hall with easy access to the kitchen and the treatment room.

Refurbished Toilets are located to the right of the stage next to the treatment room. In addition to a Ladies and a Gents lavatories, there is a wheelchair-access toilet, with baby-changing facilities.

Hall Equipment: There are sufficient fold out tables and cushioned chairs to seat 120 people. There is a range of kitchen equipment, crockery and cutlery in the kitchen. Users should check in advance of their hire that this is adequate.

There is a separate refrigerator in the Kennedy Room/Bar, together with work surfaces and sinks for washing up glasses.
